Behold, I am sending you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of Jehovah.

But who can endure the day of His coming? And who will stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire and like fuller's soap.

Behold, the day! Behold, it has come! Morning has gone forth; the staff has blossomed, pride has budded.

Blow the shofar in Zion, and shout an alarm in My holy mountain. Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble. For the day of Jehovah approaches, it is near;

The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of Jehovah.

The great day of Jehovah is near; it is near and hastens greatly, the sound of the day of Jehovah. The mighty man shall cry out bitterly there.

Behold, the day of Jehovah comes, and your spoils shall be divided in your midst.

For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and besiege you on every side,

But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.

But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same Word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

You shall make them as a fiery oven in the time of Your presence; Jehovah will swallow them up in His wrath, and the fire shall devour them.

Their fruit shall You destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the sons of men.

The mountains quake before Him, and the hills melt; and the earth is lifted up before Him, even the world and all who dwell in it.

Who can stand before His indignation? And who can endure His burning anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken down because of Him.

Their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of Jehovah. But all the earth shall be devoured by the fire of His jealousy. For He shall make a complete and speedy end of all those who live in the land.

whose winnowing shovel is in His hand, and He will thoroughly cleanse His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the granary; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

in flaming fire giving full vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

And now we are calling the arrogant blessed. Those that work wickedness are built up; they even test God, and escape.

Then you shall again distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between him who serves God and him who does not serve Him.

And in the greatness of Your majesty You have overthrown those who rose against You; You sent forth Your wrath; it consumed them like stubble.

You have removed all the wicked of the earth like dross; therefore I love Your Testimonies.

For the day of Jehovah of Hosts shall come upon all the proud and lofty ones, and upon all that is lifted up; and it shall be brought low;

and upon all the high mountains; and upon all the lifted up hills;

and upon all the ships of Tarshish; and upon all desirable craft.

Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble, and the flame consumes the chaff, so their root shall be like rottenness, and their blossoms shall go up like dust, because they have cast away the Law of Jehovah of Hosts, and despised the Word of the Holy One of Israel.

Indeed, they shall not be planted; indeed, they shall not be sown. Indeed, their stump shall not take root in the earth. And He shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the tempest shall take them away like stubble.

Who raised up the righteous one from the east, called him to His foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? Who gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow?

Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them. They shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame; it shall not be a coal to be warmed with; nor a fire in front of which to sit.

And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble. And they shall burn among them and consume them. And there shall be no survivor to the house of Esau, for Jehovah has spoken.

For as thorns are woven together, and as their drunkards are drunken, they shall be devoured like fully dried straw.

His roots are dried up below, and his branch above is cut off.

Yet I destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was as strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above and his roots from beneath.
