The plunderers have come upon all high places through the wilderness; for the sword of Jehovah shall devour from one end of the land even to the other end of the land. No flesh shall have peace.

And I will set over them four kinds, says Jehovah; the sword to kill, and the dogs to drag, and the birds of the heavens and the beasts of the earth to devour and destroy.

Therefore you shall say to them, Thus says Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel: Drink and be drunk, and vomit, and fall and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.

You are My battle-ax and weapons of war; for with you I will shatter nations; and with you I will destroy kingdoms.

Also with you I will shatter man and woman; and with you I will shatter old and young; and with you I will shatter the young man and the maiden.

if I whet My glittering sword, and My hand takes hold on judgment, I will render vengeance to My enemies, and repay those who hate Me.

I will make My arrows drunk with blood, and My sword shall devour flesh, with the blood of the slain and the captives, from the heads of the commanders of the enemy.

Arise, O Jehovah, forestall him; bow him down; deliver my soul from the wicked with Your sword,

Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger! And the staff in their hand is My indignation.

Shall the ax boast itself against him who chops with it? Shall the saw magnify itself against him who moves it? As if the rod could swing itself at those who lift it up! As if a staff could rise up, as though it were not wood!

Or if I bring a sword on that land, and say, Sword, go through the land, and I cut off man and beast from it,

and say to the land of Israel, Thus says Jehovah: Behold, I am against you, and I will draw My sword out of its sheath and cut off from you both the righteous and the wicked.

that all flesh may know that I, Jehovah, have drawn My sword out of its sheath; it shall not return anymore.

How long shall I see the standard and hear the sound of the shofar?

How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither from the evil of those who dwell in it? The beasts and the birds have been swept away; because they said, He shall not see our last end.

Then Abner called to Joab and said, Shall the sword devour forever? Do you not know that it will be bitter in the end? How long will it be then until you tell the people to turn back from after their brethren?

And Jehovah commanded the Angel, and He returned His sword to its sheath.

Return it to its sheath. I will judge you in the place where you were created, in the land of your birth.

So Jesus said to Peter, Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?
