The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is upon Me; because Jehovah has anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

For all those My hand has made, and all those exist, says Jehovah. But to this one will I have regard: To the lowly and contrite of spirit, and the one who trembles at My Word.

You, O God, sent a plentiful rain, by which You established Your inheritance when it was weary.

Your community has dwelt in it; You, O God, have provided from Your goodness for the poor.

For He shall deliver the needy when he cries, and the lowly who has no helper.

He shall have pity on the poor and needy and shall save the souls of the needy.

For Jehovah shall build up Zion; He shall appear in His glory.

He shall turn toward the prayer of the destitute, and shall not despise their prayer.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.

Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat. Yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

And the people thirsted there for water, and the people grumbled against Moses, and said, Why is it you have brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?

Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so before the eyes of the elders of Israel.

My soul thirsts for God, for the living Mighty God; when shall I come and appear before God?

I have seen You in the sanctuary, to look upon Your power and Your glory.

Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord Jehovah, that I will send a famine into the land, not a famine for bread, nor a thirst for water, but rather a famine for hearing the Words of Jehovah.

In that day the beautiful virgins and the young men shall faint with thirst.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.

But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing into Him were about to receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

And He said to me, It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the Ending. I will give of the fountain of the Water of Life freely to him who thirsts.

And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him who hears say, Come. And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take of the Water of Life freely.

My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and My tongue clings to My jaws; and You have brought Me into the dust of death.

The tongue of the infant cleaves to the roof of his mouth in thirst; the young children ask for bread; there is none broken to them.

Then he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem; you shall weep no more. He will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry. When He hears it, He will answer you.

And he became very thirsty; so he cried out to Jehovah and said, You have given this great deliverance by the hand of Your servant; and now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?

And God split the hollow place that is in Lehi, and water came out, and he drank; and his spirit returned, and he revived. Therefore he called its name En Hakkore, which is in Lehi to this day.

This poor man cried, and Jehovah heard, and delivered him out of all his troubles.

and call on Me in the day of trouble; and I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.

He shall turn toward the prayer of the destitute, and shall not despise their prayer.

Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.

Then they cried out unto Jehovah in their adversity, and He rescued them out of their distresses.

And He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore most gladly I will rather exult in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may dwell upon me.

And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths they have not known; I will make darkness into light before them, and crooked places straight. I will do these things for them, and not forsake them.

Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I am not forsaking you until I have done what I have spoken to you.

For Jehovah will not cast off His people, nor will He forsake His inheritance.

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, By no means will I ever leave you nor ever forsake you.

So we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
