As a friend, as to my brother, I walked about; as one who mourns for a mother, I was bowed down in gloom, mourning.

Why are you cast down, O my soul, and murmur within me? Hope in God; for I shall praise Him for the deliverance coming from His presence.

They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down; they have dug a pit before me, they have fallen into it. Selah.

Jehovah upholds all who fall, and raises up all who are bowed down.

I am weary from my groaning; all night I make my bed swim; I dissolve my couch with my tears.

For my life has been spent with grief, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones have wasted away.

I will say to God my Rock, Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

For You are the God of my strength; why do You cast me off? Why do I go mourning under the oppression of the enemy?

my eye has become faint because of affliction. Jehovah, I have called daily upon You; I have stretched out my hands unto You.

I have walked about in the dark, not in the sun; I have stood up in the assembly and cried out for help.

Like a twittering swallow, so I chatter; I mourn as a dove; my eyes look weakly to the heights. O Jehovah, I am distressed; be surety for me.
