And he bought the parcel of land where he had pitched his tent, from the hand of the sons of Hamor, Shechem's father, for one hundred pieces of money.

But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated wife as the firstborn by giving him a double portion of all that he has, for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.

And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel had brought up out of Egypt, they buried at Shechem, in the plot of ground which Jacob had bought from the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for one hundred pieces of silver, and which had become an inheritance of the sons of Joseph.

yet Judah has prevailed over his brothers, and from him is the chief ruler, although the birthright was Joseph's);

Thus says the Lord Jehovah: These are the borders by which you shall divide the land as an inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel. Joseph shall have two portions.

So He came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

But in the fourth generation they shall return here; for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.

They took their sheep, their oxen, and their donkeys, what was in the city and what was in the field.

And the sons of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, Why have you given us only one lot and one portion to inherit, since we are a numerous people, inasmuch as Jehovah has blessed us until now?

And the sons of Joseph said, The mountains are not enough for us; and all the Canaanites who dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both those who are of Beth Shean and its daughter-villages and those who are of the Valley of Jezreel.

but the mountains shall be yours. Although it is a forest, you shall cut it down, and it shall be yours to its extremities; for you shall dispossess the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots and are strong.

And now Jehovah the God of Israel has dispossessed the Amorites before His people Israel; should you then possess it?

Yet I destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was as strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above and his roots from beneath.
