He sent from on high and took me, He drew me to Himself out of many waters.

He will deliver me from my mighty enemies, and from them that hate me; for they are stronger than I.

What many and great afflictions have You shown me! Yet You turned and revived me, and brought me again from the depths of the earth.

For Your mercy is great toward me; and You have delivered my soul from the depths of hell.

The pangs of death compassed me; the dangers of hell found me; I found affliction and sorrow.

Attend to my supplication, for I am brought very low; deliver me from them that persecute me; for they are stronger than I.

Bring my soul out of prison, that I may give thanks to Your name, O Lord; the righteous shall wait for me, until You recompense me.

For the enemy has persecuted my soul; he has brought my life down to the ground; he has made me to dwell in a dark [place], as those that have been long dead.

And they shall gather the multitude thereof into prisons, and they shall shut them into a stronghold; after many generations they shall be visited.

[ 2:6] Water was poured around me to the soul: the lowest deep compassed me, my head went down

[ 2:7] to the clefts of the mountains; I went down into the earth, whose bars are the everlasting barriers: yet, O Lord my God, let my ruined life be restored.

And you, by the blood of your covenant, have sent forth your prisoners out of the waterless pit.

whom God raised, [thus] doing away with the labor pains of death, because it was not possible for Him to be held by it.

Because You will not abandon my soul in Hades, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

"Men, brothers, let [me] speak with boldness to you about the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

foreseeing [this], he spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, "that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption."

and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

I am stuck fast in deep mire, and there is no standing: I have come in to the depths of the sea, and a storm has overwhelmed me.

Save me from the mire, that I stick not [in it;] let me be delivered from them that hate me, and from the deep waters.

Let not the floodwater drown me, nor let the deep swallow me up; neither let the well shut its mouth upon me.

And they cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the king's son, which was in the court of the prison; and they let him down into the pit: and there was no water in the pit, but mire. And he was in the mire.

And he went forth to him, and spoke to the king and said,

And the king commanded Ebed-Melech, saying, Take with you thirty men from here, and bring him up out of the dungeon, that he die not.

And he said, Put these under the ropes. And Jeremiah did so.

and laid a stone upon me.

KOPH. I called upon Your name, O Lord, out of the lowest dungeon.

For in the day of my afflictions He hid me in His tabernacle; He sheltered me in the secret of His tabernacle; He set me up on a rock.

From the ends of the earth have I cried to You, when my heart was in trouble; You lifted me up on a rock; You guided me;

"Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and does them, I will compare him to a wise man who built his house upon the rock:

and the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew and fell against that house; and it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock.

Direct my steps in Your paths, that my steps slip not.

You have made room for my goings under me, and my footsteps did not fail.

The steps of a man are rightly ordered by the Lord; and He will take pleasure in his way.

Order my steps according to Your word; and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.
