and on the way Elijah said to Elisha, "Now stay here; the LORD has ordered me to go to Bethel." But Elisha answered, "I swear by my loyalty to the living LORD and to you that I will not leave you." So they went on to Bethel.

Then Elijah said to Elisha, "Now stay here; the LORD has ordered me to go to Jericho." But Elisha answered, "I swear by my loyalty to the living LORD and to you that I will not leave you." So they went on to Jericho.

Then Elijah said to Elisha, "Now stay here; the LORD has ordered me to go to the Jordan River." But Elisha answered, "I swear by my loyalty to the living LORD and to you that I will not leave you." So they went on,

As they came near the village to which they were going, Jesus acted as if he were going farther;

but they held him back, saying, "Stay with us; the day is almost over and it is getting dark." So he went in to stay with them.

But he answered, "What are you doing, crying like this and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be tied up in Jerusalem but even to die there for the sake of the Lord Jesus."

But Ittai answered, "Your Majesty, I swear to you in the LORD's name that I will always go with you wherever you go, even if it means death."

A teacher of the Law came to him. "Teacher," he said, "I am ready to go with you wherever you go."

"Lord, why can't I follow you now?" asked Peter. "I am ready to die for you!"

They are the men who have kept themselves pure by not having sexual relations with women; they are virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They have been redeemed from the rest of the human race and are the first ones to be offered to God and to the Lamb.

Boaz answered, "I have heard about everything that you have done for your mother-in-law since your husband died. I know how you left your father and mother and your own country and how you came to live among a people you had never known before.

May the LORD reward you for what you have done. May you have a full reward from the LORD God of Israel, to whom you have come for protection!"

Bride of the king, listen to what I say--- forget your people and your relatives.

The LORD will once again be merciful to his people Israel and choose them as his own. He will let them live in their own land again, and foreigners will come and live there with them.

As we advanced into this land, the LORD drove out all the Amorites who lived here. So we also will serve the LORD; he is our God."

The LORD says, "I am the LORD your God, who led you out of Egypt. You have no God but me. I alone am your savior.

How can God's temple come to terms with pagan idols? For we are the temple of the living God! As God himself has said, "I will make my home with my people and live among them; I will be their God, and they shall be my people."

I will be your father, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."

All those people speak about how you received us when we visited you, and how you turned away from idols to God, to serve the true and living God
