She was going to have twins, and before they were born, they struggled against each other in her womb. She said, "Why should something like this happen to me?" So she went to ask the LORD for an answer.

The LORD said, "I will go with you, and I will give you victory."

How will anyone know that you are pleased with your people and with me if you do not go with us? Your presence with us will distinguish us from any other people on earth."

they will tell it to the people who live in this land. These people have already heard that you, LORD, are with us, that you appear in plain sight when your cloud stops over us, and that you go before us in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.

Now if you kill all your people, the nations who have heard of your fame will say

In view of all this, what can we say? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Then the whole world will ask, 'Why did the LORD do this to their land? What was the reason for his fierce anger?'

But if you disobey and refuse to listen, and are led away to worship other gods,

you will be destroyed---I warn you here and now. You will not live long in that land across the Jordan that you are about to occupy.

"Will the Lord always reject us? Will he never again be pleased with us?

Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has anger taken the place of his compassion?"

Lord, where are the former proofs of your love? Where are the promises you made to David?

Don't think that the LORD is too weak to save you or too deaf to hear your call for help!

It is because of your sins that he doesn't hear you. It is your sins that separate you from God when you try to worship him.

LORD, look upon us from heaven, where you live in your holiness and glory. Where is your great concern for us? Where is your power? Where are your love and compassion? Do not ignore us.

With our own ears we have heard it, O God--- our ancestors have told us about it, about the great things you did in their time, in the days of long ago:

things we have heard and known, things that our ancestors told us.

We will not keep them from our children; we will tell the next generation about the LORD's power and his great deeds and the wonderful things he has done.

When that happens, I will become angry with them; I will abandon them, and they will be destroyed. Many terrible disasters will come upon them, and then they will realize that these things are happening to them because I, their God, am no longer with them.
