So then, as the Holy Spirit says, "If you hear God's voice today,

do not be stubborn, as your ancestors were when they rebelled against God, as they were that day in the desert when they put him to the test.

David son of Jesse was the man whom God made great, whom the God of Jacob chose to be king, and who was the composer of beautiful songs for Israel. These are David's last words:

The spirit of the LORD speaks through me; his message is on my lips.

"Why, then," Jesus asked, "did the Spirit inspire David to call him 'Lord'? David said,

The Holy Spirit inspired David to say: 'The Lord said to my Lord: Sit here at my right side until I put your enemies under your feet.'

For David himself says in the book of Psalms, 'The Lord said to my Lord: Sit here at my right side

"My friends, I must speak to you plainly about our famous ancestor King David. He died and was buried, and his grave is here with us to this very day.

David saw what God was going to do in the future, and so he spoke about the resurrection of the Messiah when he said, 'He was not abandoned in the world of the dead; his body did not rot in the grave.'

So they left, disagreeing among themselves, after Paul had said this one thing: "How well the Holy Spirit spoke through the prophet Isaiah to your ancestors!

So then, as the Holy Spirit says, "If you hear God's voice today,

This is what the scripture says: "If you hear God's voice today, do not be stubborn, as your ancestors were when they rebelled against God."

He is our God; we are the people he cares for, the flock for which he provides. Listen today to what he says:

Four hundred and eighty years after the people of Israel left Egypt, during the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the second month, the month of Ziv, Solomon began work on the Temple.

All of this took about 450 years. "After this he gave them judges until the time of the prophet Samuel.

After removing him, God made David their king. This is what God said about him: 'I have found that David son of Jesse is the kind of man I like, a man who will do all I want him to do.'
