Israel, the LORD who created you says, "Do not be afraid---I will save you. I have called you by name---you are mine.

When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burned; the hard trials that come will not hurt you.

The LORD your God will lead you, and he will fight for you, just as you saw him do in Egypt

The LORD your God is going with you, and he will give you victory.'

The LORD will fight for you, and all you have to do is keep still."

The LORD said to Moses, "Do not be afraid of him. I will give you victory over him, all his people, and his land. Do to him what you did to Sihon, the Amorite king who ruled at Heshbon."

Joshua conquered all these kings and their territory in one campaign because the LORD, Israel's God, was fighting for Israel.

God himself is our leader and his priests are here with trumpets, ready to blow them and call us to battle against you. People of Israel, don't fight against the LORD, the God of your ancestors! You can't win!"

You will not have to fight this battle. Just take up your positions and wait; you will see the LORD give you victory. People of Judah and Jerusalem, do not hesitate or be afraid. Go out to battle, and the LORD will be with you!"

Every nation that heard how the LORD had defeated Israel's enemies was terrified,

Your people did not conquer the land with their swords; they did not win it by their own power; it was by your power and your strength, by the assurance of your presence, which showed that you loved them.
