So Philip got ready and went. Now an Ethiopian eunuch, who was an important official in charge of the treasury of the queen of Ethiopia, was on his way home. He had been to Jerusalem to worship God and was going back home in his carriage. As he rode along, he was reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah.

I will eagerly obey your commands, because you will give me more understanding.

Work hard at whatever you do, because there will be no action, no thought, no knowledge, no wisdom in the world of the dead---and that is where you are going.

"My food," Jesus said to them, "is to obey the will of the one who sent me and to finish the work he gave me to do.

Those who hear the message about the Kingdom but do not understand it are like the seeds that fell along the path. The Evil One comes and snatches away what was sown in them.

And the seeds sown in the good soil stand for those who hear the message and understand it: they bear fruit, some as much as one hundred, others sixty, and others thirty."

"Do you understand these things?" Jesus asked them. "Yes," they answered.

Then Jesus called the crowd to him and said to them, "Listen and understand!

"You will see 'The Awful Horror' of which the prophet Daniel spoke. It will be standing in the holy place." (Note to the reader: understand what this means!)

"You will see 'The Awful Horror' standing in the place where he should not be." (Note to the reader: understand what this means!) "Then those who are in Judea must run away to the hills.

Then he said to them, "These are the very things I told you about while I was still with you: everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the writings of the prophets, and the Psalms had to come true."

You study the Scriptures, because you think that in them you will find eternal life. And these very Scriptures speak about me!

But in church worship I would rather speak five words that can be understood, in order to teach others, than speak thousands of words in strange tongues.

Don't be fools, then, but try to find out what the Lord wants you to do.

This calls for wisdom. Whoever is intelligent can figure out the meaning of the number of the beast, because the number stands for the name of someone. Its number is 666.
