The people started grumbling about him, because he said, "I am the bread that came down from heaven."

I am the bread of life.

But the bread that comes down from heaven is of such a kind that whoever eats it will not die.

This started an angry argument among them. "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" they asked.

Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them to life on the last day.

Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood live in me, and I live in them.

This, then, is the bread that came down from heaven; it is not like the bread that your ancestors ate, but then later died. Those who eat this bread will live forever."

The cup we use in the Lord's Supper and for which we give thanks to God: when we drink from it, we are sharing in the blood of Christ. And the bread we break: when we eat it, we are sharing in the body of Christ.

Consider the people of Israel; those who eat what is offered in sacrifice share in the altar's service to God.

For I received from the Lord the teaching that I passed on to you: that the Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took a piece of bread,

In the same way, after the supper he took the cup and said, "This cup is God's new covenant, sealed with my blood. Whenever you drink it, do so in memory of me."

It follows that if one of you eats the Lord's bread or drinks from his cup in a way that dishonors him, you are guilty of sin against the Lord's body and blood.

For if you do not recognize the meaning of the Lord's body when you eat the bread and drink from the cup, you bring judgment on yourself as you eat and drink.

Everyone whom my Father gives me will come to me. I will never turn away anyone who comes to me,

People cannot come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me; and I will raise them to life on the last day.

The prophets wrote, 'Everyone will be taught by God.' Anyone who hears the Father and learns from him comes to me.

And he added, "This is the very reason I told you that no people can come to me unless the Father makes it possible for them to do so."

Yet you are not willing to come to me in order to have life.

On the last and most important day of the festival Jesus stood up and said in a loud voice, "Whoever is thirsty should come to me, and

The LORD says, "Come, everyone who is thirsty--- here is water! Come, you that have no money--- buy grain and eat! Come! Buy wine and milk--- it will cost you nothing!

"Listen now, my people, and come to me; come to me, and you will have life! I will make a lasting covenant with you and give you the blessings I promised to David.

"Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.

The Spirit and the Bride say, "Come!" Everyone who hears this must also say, "Come!" Come, whoever is thirsty; accept the water of life as a gift, whoever wants it.

Jesus answered, "Those who drink this water will get thirsty again,

but those who drink the water that I will give them will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give them will become in them a spring which will provide them with life-giving water and give them eternal life."

whoever believes in me should drink. As the scripture says, 'Streams of life-giving water will pour out from his side.' "

they will never be hungry or thirsty. Sun and desert heat will not hurt them, for they will be led by one who loves them. He will lead them to springs of water.

"How terrible for you who are full now; you will go hungry! "How terrible for you who laugh now; you will mourn and weep!

Never again will they hunger or thirst; neither sun nor any scorching heat will burn them,
