The neighbors were all filled with fear, and the news about these things spread through all the hill country of Judea.

When Simon Peter saw what had happened, he fell on his knees before Jesus and said, "Go away from me, Lord! I am a sinful man!"

They were all completely amazed! Full of fear, they praised God, saying, "What marvelous things we have seen today!"

Then all the people from that territory asked Jesus to go away, because they were terribly afraid. So Jesus got into the boat and left.

Jerusalem will be a source of joy, honor, and pride to me; and every nation in the world will fear and tremble when they hear about the good things that I do for the people of Jerusalem and about the prosperity that I bring to the city."

So they left the tomb in a hurry, afraid and yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

As soon as Ananias heard this, he fell down dead; and all who heard about it were terrified.

The whole church and all the others who heard of this were terrified.

Nobody outside the group dared join them, even though the people spoke highly of them.

The shepherds went back, singing praises to God for all they had heard and seen; it had been just as the angel had told them.

When the people saw it, they were afraid, and praised God for giving such authority to people.

The people were amazed as they saw the dumb speaking, the crippled made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they praised the God of Israel.

And so they praised God because of me.

When the Pharisee saw this, he said to himself, "If this man really were a prophet, he would know who this woman is who is touching him; he would know what kind of sinful life she lives!"

"Some say that you are John the Baptist," they answered. "Others say that you are Elijah, while others say that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life."

"What things?" he asked. "The things that happened to Jesus of Nazareth," they answered. "This man was a prophet and was considered by God and by all the people to be powerful in everything he said and did.

"Who are you, then?" they asked. "Are you Elijah?" "No, I am not," John answered. "Are you the Prophet?" they asked. "No," he replied.

then asked John, "If you are not the Messiah nor Elijah nor the Prophet, why do you baptize?"

"I see you are a prophet, sir," the woman said.

Seeing this miracle that Jesus had performed, the people there said, "Surely this is the Prophet who was to come into the world!"

Some of the people in the crowd heard him say this and said, "This man is really the Prophet!"

Others said, "He is the Messiah!" But others said, "The Messiah will not come from Galilee!

So the Pharisees asked the man once more, "You say he cured you of your blindness---well, what do you say about him?" "He is a prophet," the man answered.

For Moses said, 'The Lord your God will send you a prophet, just as he sent me, and he will be one of your own people. You are to obey everything that he tells you to do.

Anyone who does not obey that prophet shall be separated from God's people and destroyed.'

Moses is the one who said to the people of Israel, 'God will send you a prophet, just as he sent me, and he will be one of your own people.'

"Let us praise the Lord, the God of Israel! He has come to the help of his people and has set them free.

They will completely destroy you and the people within your walls; not a single stone will they leave in its place, because you did not recognize the time when God came to save you!"

They believed, and when they heard that the LORD had come to them and had seen how they were being treated cruelly, they bowed down and worshiped.

You show your care for the land by sending rain; you make it rich and fertile. You fill the streams with water; you provide the earth with crops. This is how you do it:

Remember me, LORD, when you help your people; include me when you save them.

Let me see the prosperity of your people and share in the happiness of your nation, in the glad pride of those who belong to you.
