People may plan all kinds of things, but the LORD's will is going to be done.

Human wisdom, brilliance, insight---they are of no help if the LORD is against you.

And it is best to learn this patience in our youth.

"We must not do it during the festival," they said, "or the people will riot."

The chief priests and the teachers of the Law heard of this, so they began looking for some way to kill Jesus. They were afraid of him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.

But if we say, 'From human beings...' " (They were afraid of the people, because everyone was convinced that John had been a prophet.)

But if we say, 'From human beings,' this whole crowd here will stone us, because they are convinced that John was a prophet."

Some of the people in the crowd heard him say this and said, "This man is really the Prophet!"

The Pharisees then said to one another, "You see, we are not succeeding at all! Look, the whole world is following him!"
