Then the curtain hanging in the Temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split apart,

They left the graves, and after Jesus rose from death, they went into the Holy City, where many people saw them.

Suddenly there was a violent earthquake, which shook the prison to its foundations. At once all the doors opened, and the chains fell off all the prisoners.

God's temple in heaven was opened, and the Covenant Box was seen there. Then there were flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail.

On the way they said to one another, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?" (It was a very large stone.) Then they looked up and saw that the stone had already been rolled back.

So they entered the tomb, where they saw a young man sitting at the right, wearing a white robe---and they were alarmed.

They found the stone rolled away from the entrance to the tomb,

They stood there puzzled about this, when suddenly two men in bright shining clothes stood by them.

Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been taken away from the entrance.

and saw two angels there dressed in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been, one at the head and the other at the feet.

"Woman, why are you crying?" they asked her. She answered, "They have taken my Lord away, and I do not know where they have put him!"

No one can deny how great is the secret of our religion: He appeared in human form, was shown to be right by the Spirit, and was seen by angels. He was preached among the nations, was believed in throughout the world, and was taken up to heaven.

God revealed to these prophets that their work was not for their own benefit, but for yours, as they spoke about those things which you have now heard from the messengers who announced the Good News by the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. These are things which even the angels would like to understand.
