From that time on Jesus began to say plainly to his disciples, "I must go to Jerusalem and suffer much from the elders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the Law. I will be put to death, but three days later I will be raised to life."

As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside and spoke to them privately, as they walked along.

"Listen," he told them, "we are going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the teachers of the Law. They will condemn him to death

Then Jesus began to teach his disciples: "The Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the Law. He will be put to death, but three days later he will rise to life."

Jesus and his disciples left that place and went on through Galilee. Jesus did not want anyone to know where he was,

because he was teaching his disciples: "The Son of Man will be handed over to those who will kill him. Three days later, however, he will rise to life."

"Listen," he told them, "we are going up to Jerusalem where the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the teachers of the Law. They will condemn him to death and then hand him over to the Gentiles,

who will make fun of him, spit on him, whip him, and kill him; but three days later he will rise to life."

He also told them, "The Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the Law. He will be put to death, but three days later he will be raised to life."

"Don't forget what I am about to tell you! The Son of Man is going to be handed over to the power of human beings."

Jesus took the twelve disciples aside and said to them, "Listen! We are going to Jerusalem where everything the prophets wrote about the Son of Man will come true.

They will whip him and kill him, but three days later he will rise to life."

He is not here; he has been raised. Remember what he said to you while he was in Galilee:

'The Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, be crucified, and three days later rise to life.' "

Was it not necessary for the Messiah to suffer these things and then to enter his glory?"

and said to them, "This is what is written: the Messiah must suffer and must rise from death three days later,

Many will give up their faith at that time; they will betray one another and hate one another.

From then on Judas was looking for a good chance to hand Jesus over to them.

Get up, let us go. Look, here is the man who is betraying me!"

Was there any prophet that your ancestors did not persecute? They killed God's messengers, who long ago announced the coming of his righteous Servant. And now you have betrayed and murdered him.
