to give the following regulations to the people of Israel. When you enter the land that the LORD is giving you, you shall honor the LORD by not cultivating the land every seventh year.

to say to the people of Israel: "When you cross the Jordan River and enter the land of Canaan,

When the LORD your God places these people in your power and you defeat them, you must put them all to death. Do not make an alliance with them or show them any mercy.

"Here are the laws that you are to obey as long as you live in the land that the LORD, the God of your ancestors, is giving you. Listen to them!

"When that time comes, you must not do as you have been doing. Until now you have all been worshiping as you please,

"After the LORD your God has destroyed the people whose land he is giving you and after you have taken their cities and houses and settled there,

"After you have occupied the land that the LORD your God is giving you and have settled there,

and write on them all these laws and teachings. When you have entered the rich and fertile land that the LORD, the God of your ancestors, promised you,

The LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, "This is the country that I am going to give to your descendants." Then Abram built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him.

Now, go and look over the whole land, because I am going to give it all to you."

I will give to you and to your descendants this land in which you are now a foreigner. The whole land of Canaan will belong to your descendants forever, and I will be their God."

Under his command we will cross into the land of Canaan and go into battle, so that we can retain our property here east of the Jordan."

because you have not yet entered the land that the LORD your God is giving you, where you can live in peace.

When you cross the Jordan River, the LORD will let you occupy the land and live there. He will keep you safe from all your enemies, and you will live in peace.

"Go to the Abarim Mountains in the land of Moab opposite the city of Jericho; climb Mount Nebo and look at the land of Canaan that I am about to give the people of Israel.

Joshua was now very old. The LORD said to him, "You are very old, but there is still much land to be taken:

He said, "If you will obey me completely by doing what I consider right and by keeping my commands, I will not punish you with any of the diseases that I brought on the Egyptians. I am the LORD, the one who heals you."

The LORD kills and restores to life; he sends people to the world of the dead and brings them back again.

The LORD puts a curse on the homes of the wicked, but blesses the homes of the righteous.

I create both light and darkness; I bring both blessing and disaster. I, the LORD, do all these things.

Does the war trumpet sound in a city without making the people afraid? Does disaster strike a city unless the LORD sends it?

When the LORD gives the command, houses large and small will be smashed to pieces.

It is wise to fear the LORD. He calls to the city, "Listen, you people who assemble in the city!
