In this way the LORD rescued King Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem from the power of Sennacherib, the emperor of Assyria, and also from their other enemies. He let the people live in peace with all the neighboring countries.

But he saved them, as he had promised, in order to show his great power.

He saved them from those who hated them; he rescued them from their enemies.

from all their suffering. It was not an angel, but the LORD himself who saved them. In his love and compassion he rescued them. He had always taken care of them in the past,

For even though you know all this, I want to remind you of how the Lord once rescued the people of Israel from Egypt, but afterward destroyed those who did not believe.

The righteous will be glad when they see sinners punished; they will wade through the blood of the wicked.

My God loves me and will come to me; he will let me see my enemies defeated.

You will look and see how the wicked are punished.

We know that your enemies will die, and all the wicked will be defeated.

I have seen the defeat of my enemies and heard the cries of the wicked.
