The LORD is our protector and glorious king, blessing us with kindness and honor. He does not refuse any good thing to those who do what is right.

Sing a new song to the LORD; he has done wonderful things! By his own power and holy strength he has won the victory.

After this, Abram had a vision and heard the LORD say to him, "Do not be afraid, Abram. I will shield you from danger and give you a great reward."

Israel, how happy you are! There is no one like you, a nation saved by the LORD. The LORD himself is your shield and your sword, to defend you and give you victory. Your enemies will come begging for mercy, and you will trample them down.

Their kings revolt, their rulers plot together against the LORD and against the king he chose.

"On Zion, my sacred hill," he says, "I have installed my king."

I have made my servant David king by anointing him with holy oil.

David son of Jesse was the man whom God made great, whom the God of Jacob chose to be king, and who was the composer of beautiful songs for Israel. These are David's last words:

LORD God, do not reject the king you have chosen. Remember the love you had for your servant David."

For indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together in this city with the Gentiles and the people of Israel against Jesus, your holy Servant, whom you made Messiah.
