He chose his servant David; he took him from the pastures,

So all the leaders of Israel came to King David at Hebron. He made a sacred alliance with them, they anointed him, and he became king of Israel.

David ruled over all of Israel and made sure that his people were always treated fairly and justly.

The God of Israel has spoken; the protector of Israel said to me: "The king who rules with justice, who rules in obedience to God,

is like the sun shining on a cloudless dawn, the sun that makes the grass sparkle after rain."

I told myself, "God is going to judge the righteous and the evil alike, because every thing, every action, will happen at its own set time."
