So Naaman went down to the Jordan, dipped himself in it seven times, as Elisha had instructed, and he was completely cured. His flesh became firm and healthy like that of a child.

Some of the king's officials were afraid because of what the LORD had said, and they brought their slaves and animals indoors for shelter.

Others, however, paid no attention to the LORD's warning and left their slaves and animals out in the open.

So the king called out the young soldiers who were under the district commanders, 232 in all. Then he called out the Israelite army, a total of seven thousand men.

Sensible people will see trouble coming and avoid it, but an unthinking person will walk right into it and regret it later.

The prophet Elisha was sick with a fatal disease, and as he lay dying, King Jehoash of Israel went to visit him. "My father, my father!" he exclaimed as he wept. "You have been the mighty defender of Israel!"

Early the next morning the people went out to the wild country near Tekoa. As they were starting out, Jehoshaphat addressed them with these words: "People of Judah and Jerusalem! Put your trust in the LORD your God, and you will stand your ground. Believe what his prophets tell you, and you will succeed."

I had a vision from the Sovereign LORD. In it I saw him create a swarm of locusts just after the king's share of the hay had been cut and the grass was starting to grow again.

The LORD changed his mind and said, "What you saw will not take place."

Then I said, "Stop, O Sovereign LORD! How can your people survive? They are so small and weak!"

and said, 'Don't be afraid, Paul! You must stand before the Emperor. And God in his goodness to you has spared the lives of all those who are sailing with you.'
