David sent messengers to get her; they brought her to him and he made love to her. (She had just finished her monthly ritual of purification.) Then she went back home.

Then he said to Uriah, "Go on home and rest a while." Uriah left, and David had a present sent to his home.

David invited him to supper and got him drunk. But again that night Uriah did not go home; instead he slept on his blanket in the palace guardroom.

He wrote: "Put Uriah in the front line, where the fighting is heaviest, then retreat and let him be killed."

God is going to judge everything we do, whether good or bad, even things done in secret.

As thousands of people crowded together, so that they were stepping on each other, Jesus said first to his disciples, "Be on guard against the yeast of the Pharisees---I mean their hypocrisy.

Whatever is covered up will be uncovered, and every secret will be made known.

So you should not pass judgment on anyone before the right time comes. Final judgment must wait until the Lord comes; he will bring to light the dark secrets and expose the hidden purposes of people's minds. And then all will receive from God the praise they deserve.
