When Leah realized that she had stopped having children, she gave her slave Zilpah to Jacob as his wife.

and so she said to Abram, "The LORD has kept me from having children. Why don't you sleep with my slave? Perhaps she can have a child for me." Abram agreed with what Sarai said.

So she gave Hagar to him to be his concubine. (This happened after Abram had lived in Canaan for ten years.)

He lived to see Ephraim's children and grandchildren. He also lived to receive the children of Machir son of Manasseh into the family.

Why did my mother hold me on her knees? Why did she feed me at her breast?

and so she said to Abram, "The LORD has kept me from having children. Why don't you sleep with my slave? Perhaps she can have a child for me." Abram agreed with what Sarai said.

The leaders and the others said, "Yes, we are witnesses. May the LORD make your wife become like Rachel and Leah, who bore many children to Jacob. May you become rich in the clan of Ephrath and famous in Bethlehem.
