Now it happened, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David at Keilah, [that] he went down [with] an ephod in his hand.

Then David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech's son, "Please bring the ephod here to me." And Abiathar brought the ephod to David.

Sheva [was] scribe; Zadok and Abiathar [were] the priests;

And to Abiathar the priest the king said, "Go to Anathoth, to your own fields, for you [are] deserving of death; but I will not put you to death at this time, because you carried the ark of the Lord GOD before my father David, and because you were afflicted every time my father was afflicted."

So Solomon removed Abiathar from being priest to the LORD, that he might fulfill the word of the LORD which He spoke concerning the house of Eli at Shiloh.

'But any of your men [whom] I do not cut off from My altar shall consume your eyes and grieve your heart. And all the descendants of your house shall die in the flower of their age.

Then a man of Benjamin ran from the battle line the same day, and came to Shiloh with his clothes torn and dirt on his head.

"when the Sabeans raided [them] and took them away -- indeed they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!"

While he [was] still speaking, another also came and said, "The Chaldeans formed three bands, raided the camels and took them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!"
