"If I have kept the poor from [their] desire, Or caused the eyes of the widow to fail,

(But from my youth I reared him as a father, And from my mother's womb I guided [the widow);]

If his heart has not blessed me, And [if] he was [not] warmed with the fleece of my sheep;

[Then] let my arm fall from my shoulder, Let my arm be torn from the socket.

There is [one] who scatters, yet increases more; And there is [one] who withholds more than is right, But it [leads] to poverty.

The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself.

But a generous man devises generous things, And by generosity he shall stand.

[Is it] not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh?

[If] you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall [be] as the noonday.

The LORD will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

Then He also said to him who invited Him, "When you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid.

"And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just."

Then Jesse said to his son David, "Take now for your brothers an ephah of this dried [grain] and these ten loaves, and run to your brothers at the camp.

Then Abigail made haste and took two hundred [loaves] of bread, two skins of wine, five sheep already dressed, five seahs of roasted [grain,] one hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and loaded [them] on donkeys.

brought beds and basins, earthen vessels and wheat, barley and flour, parched [grain] and beans, lentils and parched [seeds,]

"When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which He has given you.

'And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled.'

But his servant said, "What? Shall I set this before one hundred men?" He said again, "Give it to the people, that they may eat; for thus says the LORD: 'They shall eat and have [some] left over.' "

So he set [it] before them; and they ate and had [some] left over, according to the word of the LORD.

So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.

Then she took [it] up and went into the city, and her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned. So she brought out and gave to her what she had kept back after she had been satisfied.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.
