Then Abraham breathed his last and died in a good old age, an old man and full [of years,] and was gathered to his people.

Then he said, "Behold now, I am old. I do not know the day of my death.

"And make me savory food, such as I love, and bring [it] to me that I may eat, that my soul may bless you before I die."

Then Israel said to Joseph, "Behold, I am dying, but God will be with you and bring you back to the land of your fathers.

I have waited for your salvation, O LORD!

All these [are] the twelve tribes of Israel, and this [is] what their father spoke to them. And he blessed them; he blessed each one according to his own blessing.

And when Jacob had finished commanding his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed and breathed his last, and was gathered to his people.

And Joseph said to his brethren, "I am dying; but God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land to the land of which He swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob."

By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.

The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor a lawgiver from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes; And to Him [shall be] the obedience of the people.

"I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near; A Star shall come out of Jacob; A Scepter shall rise out of Israel, And batter the brow of Moab, And destroy all the sons of tumult.

For I know [that] my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth;

"Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw [it] and was glad."

These things Isaiah said when he saw His glory and spoke of Him.

Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace [that would come] to you,

To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven -- things which angels desire to look into.

and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.

For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?

And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him.

"I [am] a foreigner and a visitor among you. Give me property for a burial place among you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight."

And Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The days of the years of my pilgrimage [are] one hundred and thirty years; few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage."

But who [am] I, and who [are] my people, That we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things [come] from You, And of Your own we have given You.

For we [are] aliens and pilgrims before You, As [were] all our fathers; Our days on earth [are] as a shadow, And without hope.

"Hear my prayer, O LORD, And give ear to my cry; Do not be silent at my tears; For I [am] a stranger with You, A sojourner, as all my fathers [were.]

I [am] a stranger in the earth; Do not hide Your commandments from me.

And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay [here] in fear;

Beloved, I beg [you] as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,
