'They shall not take a wife [who is] a harlot or a defiled woman, nor shall they take a woman divorced from her husband; for [the priest] is holy to his God.

'And he shall take a wife in her virginity.

'Nor shall he profane his posterity among his people, for I the LORD sanctify him.' "

"They shall not take as wife a widow or a divorced woman, but take virgins of the descendants of the house of Israel, or widows of priests.

There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife [was] of the daughters of Aaron, and her name [was] Elizabeth.

the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things --

He [who] does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend;

You sit [and] speak against your brother; You slander your own mother's son.

Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, Him I will destroy; The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, Him I will not endure.

Whoever hides hatred [has] lying lips, And whoever spreads slander [is] a fool.

Like the cold of snow in time of harvest [Is] a faithful messenger to those who send him, For he refreshes the soul of his masters.

"Everyone take heed to his neighbor, And do not trust any brother; For every brother will utterly supplant, And every neighbor will walk with slanderers.

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?"

unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,

the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things --

So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach;

Therefore let us not sleep, as others [do,] but let us watch and be sober.

But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and [as] a helmet the hope of salvation.

But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting [me] into the ministry,

And those who have believing masters, let them not despise [them] because they are brethren, but rather serve [them] because those who are benefited are believers and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.
