Therefore I desire that [the] younger [widows] marry, bear children, manage the house, give no opportunity to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

For I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that.

This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

Therefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh with hooks, bound him with bronze [fetters,] and carried him off to Babylon.

Now when he was in affliction, he implored the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,

A Song of Ascents. Out of the depths I have cried to You, O LORD;

Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive To the voice of my supplications.

I called on Your name, O LORD, From the lowest pit.

You have heard my voice: "Do not hide Your ear From my sighing, from my cry for help."

Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the fish's belly.

And he said: "I cried out to the LORD because of my affliction, And He answered me. "Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, [And] You heard my voice.

For from the rising of the sun, even to its going down, My name [shall be] great among the Gentiles; In every place incense [shall be] offered to My name, And a pure offering; For My name shall be great among the nations," Says the LORD of hosts.

Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom."

And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise."

Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.

"But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

"God [is] Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

When we had come to the end of those days, we departed and went on our way; and they all accompanied us, with wives and children, till [we were] out of the city. And we knelt down on the shore and prayed.

Although no violence [is] in my hands, And my prayer [is] pure.

I will wash my hands in innocence; So I will go about Your altar, O LORD,

If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear.

Lift up your hands [in] the sanctuary, And bless the LORD.

The sacrifice of the wicked [is] an abomination to the LORD, But the prayer of the upright [is] His delight.

The sacrifice of the wicked [is] an abomination; How much more [when] he brings it with wicked intent!

When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

[Is it] not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh?

Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, 'Here I [am.'] "If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,

The LORD will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

"Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know,

"and [then] come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, and say, 'We are delivered to do all these abominations'?

"But now entreat God's favor, That He may be gracious to us. [While] this is being [done] by your hands, Will He accept you favorably?" Says the LORD of hosts.

"Who [is there] even among you who would shut the doors, So that you would not kindle fire [on] My altar in vain? I have no pleasure in you," Says the LORD of hosts, "Nor will I accept an offering from your hands.

a devout [man] and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always.

And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, "What is it, lord?" So he said to him, "Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.

"and said, 'Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your alms are remembered in the sight of God.

let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [you] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [you] double-minded.

For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.

And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.

Then God said to him: "Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice,

But as for me, when they were sick, My clothing [was] sackcloth; I humbled myself with fasting; And my prayer would return to my own heart.

"But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of hell fire.

"leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.

"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

"But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

" And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.

Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." And they divided His garments and cast lots.

Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not charge them with this sin." And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

Husbands, likewise, dwell with [them] with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as [being] heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

So Jesus answered and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' it will be done.

"For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive [them,] and you will have [them.]

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

[he is] a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
