Who sharpen their tongue like a sword, And bend [their bows to shoot] their arrows -- bitter words,

"Whose mouth [is] full of cursing and bitterness."

But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.

But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.

This wisdom does not descend from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, demonic.

"Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath,

A quick-tempered [man] acts foolishly, And a man of wicked intentions is hated.

The king's wrath [is] like the roaring of a lion, But his favor [is] like dew on the grass.

Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, For anger rests in the bosom of fools.

For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and [that] I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest [there be] contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults;

idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,

But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife.

For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money,

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.

For where envy and self-seeking [exist,] confusion and every evil thing [are] there.

Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Where do wars and fights [come] from among you? Do [they] not [come] from your [desires for] pleasure that war in your members?

You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.

And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, "We have ten shares in the king; therefore we also have more [right] to David than you. Why then do you despise us -- were we not the first to advise bringing back our king?" Yet the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.

And there happened to be there a rebel, whose name [was] Sheba the son of Bichri, a Benjamite. And he blew a trumpet, and said: "We have no share in David, Nor do we have inheritance in the son of Jesse; Every man to his tents, O Israel!"

So every man of Israel deserted David, [and] followed Sheba the son of Bichri. But the men of Judah, from the Jordan as far as Jerusalem, remained loyal to their king.

[If] a wise man contends with a foolish man, Whether [the fool] rages or laughs, [there is] no peace.

An angry man stirs up strife, And a furious man abounds in transgression.

Now when they heard [this,] they were full of wrath and cried out, saying, "Great [is] Diana of the Ephesians!"

So the whole city was filled with confusion, and rushed into the theater with one accord, having seized Gaius and Aristarchus, Macedonians, Paul's travel companions.

And all the city was disturbed; and the people ran together, seized Paul, and dragged him out of the temple; and immediately the doors were shut.

And they listened to him until this word, and [then] they raised their voices and said, "Away with such a [fellow] from the earth, for he is not fit to live!"

Then, as they cried out and tore off [their] clothes and threw dust into the air,

not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous;

he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions,

useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a [means of] gain. From such withdraw yourself.

'You shall not go about [as] a talebearer among your people; nor shall you take a stand against the life of your neighbor: I [am] the LORD.

"And he has slandered your servant to my lord the king, but my lord the king [is] like the angel of God. Therefore do [what is] good in your eyes.

He [who] does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend;

You sit [and] speak against your brother; You slander your own mother's son.

Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, Him I will destroy; The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, Him I will not endure.

Let not a slanderer be established in the earth; Let evil hunt the violent man to overthrow [him."]

A false witness [who] speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.

Whoever hides hatred [has] lying lips, And whoever spreads slander [is] a fool.

The words of a talebearer [are] like tasty trifles, And they go down into the inmost body.

The north wind brings forth rain, And a backbiting tongue an angry countenance.

Where [there is] no wood, the fire goes out; And where [there is] no talebearer, strife ceases.

They [are] all stubborn rebels, walking as slanderers. [They are] bronze and iron, They [are] all corrupters;

"Everyone take heed to his neighbor, And do not trust any brother; For every brother will utterly supplant, And every neighbor will walk with slanderers.

being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; [they are] whisperers,

backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

Likewise [their] wives [must be] reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.

And besides they learn [to be] idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.

unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,

the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things --

to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.

Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.

Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking,

and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. [They are] presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,

whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.

Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries.

But these speak evil of whatever they do not know; and whatever they know naturally, like brute beasts, in these things they corrupt themselves.

Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.

So Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau said in his heart, "The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will kill my brother Jacob."

But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peaceably to him.

But Reuben heard [it,] and he delivered him out of their hands, and said, "Let us not kill him."

' You shall not hate your brother in your heart. You shall surely rebuke your neighbor, and not bear sin because of him.

'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I [am] the LORD.

And Absalom spoke to his brother Amnon neither good nor bad. For Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.

Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.

He who hates, disguises [it] with his lips, And lays up deceit within himself;

When he speaks kindly, do not believe him, For [there are] seven abominations in his heart;

Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, For anger rests in the bosom of fools.

being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; [they are] whisperers,

Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened [bread] of sincerity and truth.

Brethren, do not be children in understanding; however, in malice be babes, but in understanding be mature.

But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.

not as Cain [who] was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother's righteous.

Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
