But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;

neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

For [there is] no faithfulness in their mouth; Their inward part [is] destruction; Their throat [is] an open tomb; They flatter with their tongue.

Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

Their eyes bulge with abundance; They have more than heart could wish.

They set their mouth against the heavens, And their tongue walks through the earth.

"Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

"But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

"Their throat [is] an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit"; "The poison of asps [is] under their lips";

"Whose mouth [is] full of cursing and bitterness."

If, in the manner of men, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage [is it] to me? If [the] dead do not rise, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!"

Do not be deceived: "Evil company corrupts good habits."

But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds,

[Let] your speech always [be] with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he [is] a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires.

And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.

But no man can tame the tongue. [It is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

For when they speak great swelling [words] of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error.

raging waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.

"to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."

And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months.

Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven.

" And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.

"You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, And his tongue talks of justice.

The law of his God [is] in his heart; None of his steps shall slide.

You are fairer than the sons of men; Grace is poured upon Your lips; Therefore God has blessed You forever.

O God, You have taught me from my youth; And to this [day] I declare Your wondrous works.

Now also when [I am] old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to [this] generation, Your power to everyone [who] is to come.

My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness all the day long; For they are confounded, For they are brought to shame Who seek my hurt.

We will not hide [them] from their children, Telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.

For He established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children;

The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, But the perverse tongue will be cut out.

The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, But the mouth of the wicked [what is] perverse.

The wicked is ensnared by the transgression of [his] lips, But the righteous will come through trouble.

The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.

A wholesome tongue [is] a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.

The wise in heart will be called prudent, And sweetness of the lips increases learning.

A word fitly spoken [is like] apples of gold In settings of silver.

[Like] an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold [Is] a wise rebuker to an obedient ear.

" The Lord GOD has given Me The tongue of the learned, That I should know how to speak A word in season to [him who is] weary. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear To hear as the learned.

Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, And the LORD listened and heard [them;] So a book of remembrance was written before Him For those who fear the LORD And who meditate on His name.

Then you shall again discern Between the righteous and the wicked, Between one who serves God And one who does not serve Him.

So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, "Is this not Joseph's son?"

yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may teach others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

And [whatever] you do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

[Let] your speech always [be] with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,

from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by [your] good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Wives, likewise, [be] submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives,
