For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."

But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

who "will render to each one according to his deeds":

Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law [is] the knowledge of sin.

(For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,

so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

What shall we say then? [Is] the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, "You shall not covet."

I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died.

For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed [me.]

"And look! You have risen in your father's place, a brood of sinful men, to increase still more the fierce anger of the LORD against Israel.

"The LORD would not spare him; for then the anger of the LORD and His jealousy would burn against that man, and every curse that is written in this book would settle on him, and the LORD would blot out his name from under heaven.

"so that the coming generation of your children who rise up after you, and the foreigner who comes from a far land, would say, when they see the plagues of that land and the sicknesses which the LORD has laid on it:

"All nations would say, 'Why has the LORD done so to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?'

'for they went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods that they did not know and that He had not given to them.

'And the LORD uprooted them from their land in anger, in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as [it is] this day.'

"Go, inquire of the LORD for me, for the people and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that has been found; for great [is] the wrath of the LORD that is aroused against us, because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book, to do according to all that is written concerning us."

For this, clothe yourself with sackcloth, Lament and wail. For the fierce anger of the LORD Has not turned back from us.

"You have invited as to a feast day The terrors that surround me. In the day of the LORD's anger There was no refugee or survivor. Those whom I have borne and brought up My enemies have destroyed."

'They will throw their silver into the streets, And their gold will be like refuse; Their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them In the day of the wrath of the LORD; They will not satisfy their souls, Nor fill their stomachs, Because it became their stumbling block of iniquity.

Neither their silver nor their gold Shall be able to deliver them In the day of the LORD's wrath; But the whole land shall be devoured By the fire of His jealousy, For He will make speedy riddance Of all those who dwell in the land.

"He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

"If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.

"Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,

"because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead."

The sting of death [is] sin, and the strength of sin [is] the law.

But if the ministry of death, written [and] engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which [glory] was passing away,

For if the ministry of condemnation [had] glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.

For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, "Cursed [is] everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them."

What purpose then [does] the law [serve?] It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; [and it was] appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience,

Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

and said to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!

"For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"

Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law

(for not the hearers of the law [are] just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;

(For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
