Exodus 32:2-8

And Aaron said to them, "Break off the golden earrings which [are] in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring [them] to me."
3
"So all the people broke off the golden earrings which [were] in their ears, and brought [them] to Aaron.
4
And he received [the gold] from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf. Then they said, "This [is] your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!"
5
So when Aaron saw [it,] he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a proclamation and said, "Tomorrow [is] a feast to the LORD."
6
Then they rose early on the next day, offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
7
And the LORD said to Moses, "Go, get down! For your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted [themselves.]
8
"They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molded calf, and worshiped it and sacrificed to it, and said, 'This [is] your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!' "
Exodus 32:17-20

And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, "[There is] a noise of war in the camp."
18
But he said: "[It is] not the noise of the shout of victory, Nor the noise of the cry of defeat, [But] the sound of singing I hear."
19
So it was, as soon as he came near the camp, that he saw the calf [and] the dancing. So Moses' anger became hot, and he cast the tablets out of his hands and broke them at the foot of the mountain.
20
Then he took the calf which they had made, burned [it] in the fire, and ground [it] to powder; and he scattered [it] on the water and made the children of Israel drink [it.]
Deuteronomy 9:12-18

"Then the LORD said to me, 'Arise, go down quickly from here, for your people whom you brought out of Egypt have acted corruptly; they have quickly turned aside from the way which I commanded them; they have made themselves a molded image.'

" Furthermore the LORD spoke to me, saying, 'I have seen this people, and indeed they are a stiff-necked people.
14
'Let Me alone, that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven; and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.'

"So I turned and came down from the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire; and the two tablets of the covenant [were] in my two hands.
16
"And I looked, and behold, you had sinned against the LORD your God -- had made for yourselves a molded calf! You had turned aside quickly from the way which the LORD had commanded you.

"Then I took the two tablets and threw them out of my two hands and broke them before your eyes.
18
"And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all your sin which you committed in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him to anger.
Nehemiah 9:18

Surely all his companions would be ashamed; And the workmen, they [are] mere men. Let them all be gathered together, Let them stand up; Yet they shall fear, They shall be ashamed together.

The blacksmith with the tongs works one in the coals, Fashions it with hammers, And works it with the strength of his arms. Even so, he is hungry, and his strength fails; He drinks no water and is faint.

The craftsman stretches out [his] rule, He marks one out with chalk; He fashions it with a plane, He marks it out with the compass, And makes it like the figure of a man, According to the beauty of a man, that it may remain in the house.

He cuts down cedars for himself, And takes the cypress and the oak; He secures [it] for himself among the trees of the forest. He plants a pine, and the rain nourishes [it.]
15
Then it shall be for a man to burn, For he will take some of it and warm himself; Yes, he kindles [it] and bakes bread; Indeed he makes a god and worships [it;] He makes it a carved image, and falls down to it.
16
He burns half of it in the fire; With this half he eats meat; He roasts a roast, and is satisfied. He even warms [himself] and says, "Ah! I am warm, I have seen the fire."
17
And the rest of it he makes into a god, His carved image. He falls down before it and worships [it,] Prays to it and says, "Deliver me, for you [are] my god!"
18
They do not know nor understand; For He has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see, [And] their hearts, so that they cannot understand.
19
And no one considers in his heart, Nor [is there] knowledge nor understanding to say, "I have burned half of it in the fire, Yes, I have also baked bread on its coals; I have roasted meat and eaten [it;] And shall I make the rest of it an abomination? Shall I fall down before a block of wood?"
20
He feeds on ashes; A deceived heart has turned him aside; And he cannot deliver his soul, Nor say, "[Is there] not a lie in my right hand?"
Hosea 9:1
Do not rejoice, O Israel, with joy like [other] peoples, For you have played the harlot against your God. You have made love [for] hire on every threshing floor.
Hosea 9:10
" I found Israel Like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers As the firstfruits on the fig tree in its first season. [But] they went to Baal Peor, And separated themselves [to that] shame; They became an abomination like the thing they loved.
Habakkuk 2:18-20

" What profit is the image, that its maker should carve it, The molded image, a teacher of lies, That the maker of its mold should trust in it, To make mute idols?

Woe to him who says to wood, 'Awake!' To silent stone, 'Arise! It shall teach!' Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, Yet in it there is no breath at all.

But the LORD is in His holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before Him."
