A wise [man] will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,

Give [instruction] to a wise [man,] and he will be still wiser; Teach a just [man,] and he will increase in learning.

Yet I had planted you a noble vine, a seed of highest quality. How then have you turned before Me Into the degenerate plant of an alien vine?

Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote -- Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."

Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!"

Nathanael answered and said to Him, "Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!"

Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added [to them.]

"So I sent to you immediately, and you have done well to come. Now therefore, we are all present before God, to hear all the things commanded you by God."

Now the apostles and brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.

I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth More than my necessary [food.]

My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you,

Yes, if you cry out for discernment, [And] lift up your voice for understanding,

Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God.

Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold;

"But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands [it,] who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit,

For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed [it] not [as] the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.

and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,

But his delight [is] in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.

He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

Oh, how I love Your law! It [is] my meditation all the day.

I understand more than the ancients, Because I keep Your precepts.

My eyes are awake through the [night] watches, That I may meditate on Your word.

To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them.

" Search from the book of the LORD, and read: Not one of these shall fail; Not one shall lack her mate. For My mouth has commanded it, and His Spirit has gathered them.

"Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.'

Then He said to them, "These [are] the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and [the] Prophets and [the] Psalms concerning Me."

"But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."

"You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.

and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace [that would come] to you,

To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven -- things which angels desire to look into.

And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;

for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke [as they were] moved by the Holy Spirit.

They are of the world. Therefore they speak [as] of the world, and the world hears them.

We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
