And David stayed in strongholds in the wilderness, and remained in the mountains in the Wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but God did not deliver him into his hand.

The wicked watches the righteous, And seeks to slay him.

The LORD will not leave him in his hand, Nor condemn him when he is judged.

And the king commanded Jerahmeel the king's son, Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet, but the LORD hid them.

Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, "Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him."

So when he had arrested him, he put [him] in prison, and delivered [him] to four squads of soldiers to keep him, intending to bring him before the people after Passover.

And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison.

Now while they were going, behold, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all the things that had happened.

saying, "Tell them, 'His disciples came at night and stole Him [away] while we slept.'

So they took the money and did as they were instructed; and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.

"[It is] a difficult thing that the king requests, and there is no other who can tell it to the king except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh."

So the decree went out, and they began killing the wise [men;] and they sought Daniel and his companions, to kill [them.]

Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.

But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also,

because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.

On the next [day] we who were Paul's companions departed and came to Caesarea, and entered the house of Philip the evangelist, who was [one] of the seven, and stayed with him.

And after some days King Agrippa and Bernice came to Caesarea to greet Festus.

So the king of Israel went to his house sullen and displeased, and came to Samaria.

Afterward Mordecai went back to the king's gate. But Haman hurried to his house, mourning and with his head covered.
