John answered and said, "A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.

Therefore they sought to take Him; but no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come.

"And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.

"So now [it was] not you [who] sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

"for at this time I will send all My plagues to your very heart, and on your servants and on your people, that you may know that [there is] none like Me in all the earth.

"But indeed for this [purpose] I have raised you up, that I may show My power [in] you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.

Yours, O LORD, [is] the greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all [that is] in heaven and in earth [is Yours;] Yours [is] the kingdom, O LORD, And You are exalted as head over all.

I was mute, I did not open my mouth, Because it was You who did [it.]

God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this: That power [belongs] to God.

'I have made the earth, the man and the beast that [are] on the ground, by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and have given it to whom it seemed proper to Me.

'So all nations shall serve him and his son and his son's son, until the time of his land comes; and then many nations and great kings shall make him serve them.

Who [is] he [who] speaks and it comes to pass, [When] the Lord has not commanded [it?]

'This decision [is] by the decree of the watchers, And the sentence by the word of the holy ones, In order that the living may know That the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, Gives it to whomever He will, And sets over it the lowest of men.'

They shall drive you from men, your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make you eat grass like oxen. They shall wet you with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over you, till you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.

All the inhabitants of the earth [are] reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army of heaven And [among] the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand Or say to Him, "What have You done?"

"Then he was driven from the sons of men, his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling [was] with the wild donkeys. They fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and appoints over it whomever He chooses.

And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

"When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not try to seize Me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness."

"Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death;

"to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done.

For of Him and through Him and to Him [are] all things, to whom [be] glory forever. Amen.

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all,

"nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish."

Then Judas, having received a detachment [of troops,] and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.

Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, "He has spoken blasphemy! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy!

And when they had bound Him, they led Him away and delivered Him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

Now His betrayer had given them a signal, saying, "Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him and lead [Him] away safely."

Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, 'We see.' Therefore your sin remains.

"If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.

"If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father.

"There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.

"And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?"

'The very dust of your city which clings to us we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near you.'

" Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

"And that servant who knew his master's will, and did not prepare [himself] or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many [stripes.]

"But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.

For [it is] impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit,

if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put [Him] to an open shame.

but if it bears thorns and briars, [it is] rejected and near to being cursed, whose end [is] to be burned.

Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do [it,] to him it is sin.
