So when the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God, saying, "Certainly this was a righteous Man!"

And the whole crowd who came together to that sight, seeing what had been done, beat their breasts and returned.

" But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,

"bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.

'Thus you shall say to Joseph: "I beg you, please forgive the trespass of your brothers and their sin; for they did evil to you." ' Now, please, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father." And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.

When they envied Moses in the camp, [And] Aaron the saint of the LORD,

A fire was kindled in their company; The flame burned up the wicked.

Thus they changed their glory Into the image of an ox that eats grass.

"But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not charge them with this sin." And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

And we labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure;

For what credit [is it] if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this [is] commendable before God.

not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.

"And that servant who knew his master's will, and did not prepare [himself] or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many [stripes.]

"But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.

"If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.

"If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father.

Jesus answered, "You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin."

"Yet now, brethren, I know that you did [it] in ignorance, as [did] also your rulers.

which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did [it] ignorantly in unbelief.

They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.

Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: "They divided My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots."

Sitting down, they kept watch over Him there.
