But He sighed deeply in His spirit, and said, "Why does this generation seek a sign? Assuredly, I say to you, no sign shall be given to this generation."

But Jesus, being aware of [it,] said to them, "Why do you reason because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive nor understand? Is your heart still hardened?

For they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was hardened.

He answered him and said, "O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me."

Understand, you senseless among the people; And [you] fools, when will you be wise?

"How is it you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? -- [but] to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees."

Then they understood that He did not tell [them] to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'?

I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren?

Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak [this] to your shame.
