Then He charged them, saying, "Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod."

But the Pharisees said, "He casts out demons by the ruler of the demons."

Then His disciples came and said to Him, "Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?"

"But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in [yourselves,] nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

And their scribes and the Pharisees complained against His disciples, saying, "Why do You eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?"

So the scribes and Pharisees watched Him closely, whether He would heal on the Sabbath, that they might find an accusation against Him.

But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the will of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.

Then the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but your inward part is full of greed and wickedness.

And as He said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to assail [Him] vehemently, and to cross-examine Him about many things,

lying in wait for Him, and seeking to catch Him in something He might say, that they might accuse Him.

Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him.

The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning Him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take Him.

"Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him?

Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, "What shall we do? For this Man works many signs.

Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a command, that if anyone knew where He was, he should report [it,] that they might seize Him.

"For the LORD God of Israel says That He hates divorce, For it covers one's garment with violence," Says the LORD of hosts. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, That you do not deal treacherously."

" Furthermore it has been said, 'Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.'

"But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.

The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for [just] any reason?"

Now to the married I command, [yet] not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from [her] husband.

But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to [her] husband. And a husband is not to divorce [his] wife.

Then the Pharisees came out and began to dispute with Him, seeking from Him a sign from heaven, testing Him.

Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven.

Then one of them, a lawyer, asked [Him a question,] testing Him, and saying,

This they said, testing Him, that they might have [something] of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with [His] finger, as though He did not hear.

nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents;
