And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.

and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing [their] nets.

Jesus departed from there, skirted the Sea of Galilee, and went up on the mountain and sat down there.

'the border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain; the border shall go down and reach to the eastern side of the Sea of Chinnereth;

"the plain also, with the Jordan as [the] border, from Chinnereth as far as the east side of the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea), below the slopes of Pisgah.

So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret,

After these things Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is [the Sea] of Tiberias.

After these things Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and in this way He showed [Himself:]

Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the [son] of Zebedee, and John his brother;

Simon, whom He also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew;

One of the two who heard John [speak,] and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.

And he brought him to Jesus. Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, "You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas" (which is translated, A Stone).

One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to Him,

Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

"Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt."

Now the Angel of the LORD came and sat under the terebinth tree which [was] in Ophrah, which [belonged] to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress, in order to hide [it] from the Midianites.

And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, "The LORD [is] with you, you mighty man of valor!"

So he departed from there, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who [was] plowing [with] twelve yoke [of oxen] before him, and he was with the twelfth. Then Elijah passed by him and threw his mantle on him.

So [Elisha] turned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen and slaughtered them and boiled their flesh, using the oxen's equipment, and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and followed Elijah, and became his servant.

He also chose David His servant, And took him from the sheepfolds;

So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, And guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.

Then Amos answered, and said to Amaziah: "I [was] no prophet, Nor [was] I a son of a prophet, But I [was] a sheepbreeder And a tender of sycamore fruit.

Then the LORD took me as I followed the flock, And the LORD said to me, 'Go, prophesy to My people Israel.'

But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;

that no flesh should glory in His presence.
