[Men] shall clap their hands at him, And shall hiss him out of his place.

" You therefore, son of man, prophesy, And strike [your] hands together. The third time let the sword do double [damage.] It [is] the sword [that] slays, The sword that slays the great [men,] That enters their private chambers.

"I also will beat My fists together, And I will cause My fury to rest; I, the LORD, have spoken."

" Behold, therefore, I beat My fists at the dishonest profit which you have made, and at the bloodshed which has been in your midst.

"Therefore please come at once, curse this people for me, for they [are] too mighty for me. Perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land, for I know that he whom you bless [is] blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed."

'Look, a people has come out of Egypt, and they cover the face of the earth. Come now, curse them for me; perhaps I shall be able to overpower them and drive them out.' "

'for I will certainly honor you greatly, and I will do whatever you say to me. Therefore please come, curse this people for me.' "

Then Balak said to Balaam, "What have you done to me? I took you to curse my enemies, and look, you have blessed [them] bountifully!"

"because they did not meet you with bread and water on the road when you came out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you.

"Nevertheless the LORD your God would not listen to Balaam, but the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the LORD your God loves you.

'Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose to make war against Israel, and sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you.

'But I would not listen to Balaam; therefore he continued to bless you. So I delivered you out of his hand.

because they had not met the children of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them. However, our God turned the curse into a blessing.
