Then the servants of the king of Syria said to him, "Their gods [are] gods of the hills. Therefore they were stronger than we; but if we fight against them in the plain, surely we will be stronger than they.

Then a man of God came and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, "Thus says the LORD: 'Because the Syrians have said, "The LORD [is] God of the hills, but He [is] not God of the valleys," therefore I will deliver all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I [am] the LORD.' "

O My people, remember now What Balak king of Moab counseled, And what Balaam the son of Beor answered him, From Acacia Grove to Gilgal, That you may know the righteousness of the LORD."

So it was the next day, that Balak took Balaam and brought him up to the high places of Baal, that from there he might observe the extent of the people.

'Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose to make war against Israel, and sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you.

As he loved cursing, so let it come to him; As he did not delight in blessing, so let it be far from him.

With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.

Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.
