And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside.

So Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done to him.

Unstable as water, you shall not excel, Because you went up to your father's bed; Then you defiled [it -- He] went up to my couch.

Then Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, "As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, 'Absalom reigns in Hebron!' "

Then Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counselor, from his city -- from Giloh -- while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy grew strong, for the people with Absalom continually increased in number.

And David said to Abishai and all his servants, "See how my son who came from my own body seeks my life. How much more now [may this] Benjamite? Let him alone, and let him curse; for so the LORD has ordered him.

And Ahithophel said to Absalom, "Go in to your father's concubines, whom he has left to keep the house; and all Israel will hear that you are abhorred by your father. Then the hands of all who are with you will be strong."

Now the advice of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, [was] as if one had inquired at the oracle of God. So [was] all the advice of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.

[There is] a generation [that] curses its father, And does not bless its mother.

The eye [that] mocks [his] father, And scorns obedience to [his] mother, The ravens of the valley will pick it out, And the young eagles will eat it.

"In you they have made light of father and mother; in your midst they have oppressed the stranger; in you they have mistreated the fatherless and the widow.

"Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father [his] child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death.

"For I have come to 'set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law';

"and 'a man's enemies will be those of his [own] household.'

"Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law."

"You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put [some] of you to death.

For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,

Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up [his] heel against me.

For [it is] not an enemy [who] reproaches me; Then I could bear [it.] Nor [is it] one [who] hates me who has exalted [himself] against me; Then I could hide from him.

We took sweet counsel together, [And] walked to the house of God in the throng.

For even your brothers, the house of your father, Even they have dealt treacherously with you; Yes, they have called a multitude after you. Do not believe them, Even though they speak smooth words to you.

For I heard many mocking: "Fear on every side!" "Report," [they say,] "and we will report it!" All my acquaintances watched for my stumbling, [saying,] "Perhaps he can be induced; Then we will prevail against him, And we will take our revenge on him."

All the men in your confederacy Shall force you to the border; The men at peace with you Shall deceive you [and] prevail against you. [Those who eat] your bread shall lay a trap for you. No one is aware of it.

He answered and said, "He who dipped [his] hand with Me in the dish will betray Me.

Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed Him.

But Jesus said to him, "Friend, why have you come?" Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him.

"I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, 'He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.'
