O daughter of Babylon, who are to be destroyed, Happy the one who repays you as you have served us!

Happy the one who takes and dashes Your little ones against the rock!

" Sit in silence, and go into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans; For you shall no longer be called The Lady of Kingdoms.

And you said, 'I shall be a lady forever,' [So] that you did not take these [things] to heart, Nor remember the latter end of them.

But these two [things] shall come to you In a moment, in one day: The loss of children, and widowhood. They shall come upon you in their fullness Because of the multitude of your sorceries, For the great abundance of your enchantments.

Thus says the LORD of hosts: "The children of Israel [were] oppressed, Along with the children of Judah; All who took them captive have held them fast; They have refused to let them go.

Their Redeemer [is] strong; The LORD of hosts [is] His name. He will thoroughly plead their case, That He may give rest to the land, And disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.

Babylon has suddenly fallen and been destroyed. Wail for her! Take balm for her pain; Perhaps she may be healed.

The LORD has revealed our righteousness. Come and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God.

He who scatters has come up before your face. Man the fort! Watch the road! Strengthen [your] flanks! Fortify [your] power mightily.

The shields of his mighty men [are] made red, The valiant men [are] in scarlet. The chariots [come] with flaming torches In the day of his preparation, And the spears are brandished.

Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, "Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters,

So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast [which was] full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

And on her forehead a name [was] written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

But the angel said to me, "Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.

Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion Who rejoice at my hurt; Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor Who exalt themselves against me.

Let my accusers be clothed with shame, And let them cover themselves with their own disgrace as with a mantle.

We are ashamed because we have heard reproach. Shame has covered our faces, For strangers have come into the sanctuaries of the LORD's house.

They will also be girded with sackcloth; Horror will cover them; Shame [will be] on every face, Baldness on all their heads.

" For violence against your brother Jacob, Shame shall cover you, And you shall be cut off forever.

My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually say to me, "Where [is] your God?"

[As] with a breaking of my bones, My enemies reproach me, While they say to me all day long, "Where [is] your God?"

Why should the nations say, "Where [is] their God?" Let there be known among the nations in our sight The avenging of the blood of Your servants [which has been] shed.

Why should the Gentiles say, "So where [is] their God?"

"Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying: 'Do not let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, "Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria."

'Look! You have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by utterly destroying them; and shall you be delivered?

"Now if you are ready at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, [and] psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, and you fall down and worship the image which I have made, [good!] But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. And who [is] the god who will deliver you from my hands?"

Let the priests, who minister to the LORD, Weep between the porch and the altar; Let them say, "Spare Your people, O LORD, And do not give Your heritage to reproach, That the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, 'Where [is] their God?' "

"He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, 'I am the Son of God.' "

Now also many nations have gathered against you, Who say, "Let her be defiled, And let our eye look upon Zion."

The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance; He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked,

Your eyes shall see, And you shall say, 'The LORD is magnified beyond the border of Israel.'

"Rejoice over her, O heaven, and [you] holy apostles and prophets, for God has avenged you on her!"

Then I beat them as fine as the dust of the earth; I trod them like dirt in the streets, [And] I spread them out.

Then he said, "Throw her down." So they threw her down, and [some] of her blood spattered on the wall and on the horses; and he trampled her underfoot.

So they went to bury her, but they found no more of her than the skull and the feet and the palms of [her] hands.

'and the corpse of Jezebel shall be as refuse on the surface of the field, in the plot at Jezreel, so that they shall not say, "Here [lies] Jezebel." ' "

Then I beat them as fine as the dust before the wind; I cast them out like dirt in the streets.

For on this mountain the hand of the LORD will rest, And Moab shall be trampled down under Him, As straw is trampled down for the refuse heap.

The fortress of the high fort of your walls He will bring down, lay low, [And] bring to the ground, down to the dust.

For He brings down those who dwell on high, The lofty city; He lays it low, He lays it low to the ground, He brings it down to the dust.

The foot shall tread it down -- The feet of the poor [And] the steps of the needy."

"Behold, I will make you into a new threshing sledge with sharp teeth; You shall thresh the mountains and beat [them] small, And make the hills like chaff.

You shall winnow them, the wind shall carry them away, And the whirlwind shall scatter them; You shall rejoice in the LORD, [And] glory in the Holy One of Israel.

Thus says your Lord, The LORD and your God, [Who] pleads the cause of His people: "See, I have taken out of your hand The cup of trembling, The dregs of the cup of My fury; You shall no longer drink it.

But I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you, Who have said to you, 'Lie down, that we may walk over you.' And you have laid your body like the ground, And as the street, for those who walk over."

Why [is] Your apparel red, And Your garments like one who treads in the winepress?

" I have trodden the winepress alone, And from the peoples no one [was] with Me. For I have trodden them in My anger, And trampled them in My fury; Their blood is sprinkled upon My garments, And I have stained all My robes.

They shall be like mighty men, Who tread down [their enemies] In the mire of the streets in the battle. They shall fight because the LORD is with them, And the riders on horses shall be put to shame.

You shall trample the wicked, For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet On the day that I do [this,"] Says the LORD of hosts.
