And the name of the second he called Ephraim: "For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction."

But his father refused and said, "I know, my son, I know. He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great; but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of nations."

"Joseph [is] a fruitful bough, A fruitful bough by a well; His branches run over the wall.

His glory [is like] a firstborn bull, And his horns [like] the horns of the wild ox; Together with them He shall push the peoples To the ends of the earth; They [are] the ten thousands of Ephraim, And they [are] the thousands of Manasseh."

The wind has wrapped her up in its wings, And they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.

The ungodly [are] not so, But [are] like the chaff which the wind drives away.

The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters; But [God] will rebuke them and they will flee far away, And be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind, Like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

You shall winnow them, the wind shall carry them away, And the whirlwind shall scatter them; You shall rejoice in the LORD, [And] glory in the Holy One of Israel.

At that time it will be said To this people and to Jerusalem, "A dry wind of the desolate heights [blows] in the wilderness Toward the daughter of My people -- Not to fan or to cleanse --

Behold, [it is] planted, Will it thrive? Will it not utterly wither when the east wind touches it? It will wither in the garden terrace where it grew." ' "

But she was plucked up in fury, She was cast down to the ground, And the east wind dried her fruit. Her strong branches were broken and withered; The fire consumed them.

[As for] Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird -- No birth, no pregnancy, and no conception!

His roots are dried out below, And his branch withers above.

Let his posterity be cut off, [And] in the generation following let their name be blotted out.

Prepare slaughter for his children Because of the iniquity of their fathers, Lest they rise up and possess the land, And fill the face of the world with cities."

"And he shall also carry their gods captive to Egypt, with their princes [and] their precious articles of silver and gold; and he shall continue [more] years than the king of the North.

Take spoil of silver! Take spoil of gold! [There is] no end of treasure, Or wealth of every desirable prize.
