"If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.

"But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name."

But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.

"And may You hear the supplication of Your servant and of Your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Hear in heaven Your dwelling place; and when You hear, forgive.

"whatever prayer, whatever supplication is made by anyone, [or] by all Your people Israel, when each one knows the plague of his own heart, and spreads out his hands toward this temple:

" When Your people go out to battle against their enemy, wherever You send them, and when they pray to the LORD toward the city which You have chosen and the temple which I have built for Your name,

"and [when] they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies who led them away captive, and pray to You toward their land which You gave to their fathers, the city which You have chosen and the temple which I have built for Your name:

"and forgive Your people who have sinned against You, and all their transgressions which they have transgressed against You; and grant them compassion before those who took them captive, that they may have compassion on them

"and [when] they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, where they have been carried captive, and pray toward their land which You gave to their fathers, the city which You have chosen, and toward the temple which I have built for Your name:

But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy; In fear of You I will worship toward Your holy temple.

Then I said, 'I have been cast out of Your sight; Yet I will look again toward Your holy temple.'

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

And so it was, when Solomon had finished praying all this prayer and supplication to the LORD, that he arose from before the altar of the LORD, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven.

(for Solomon had made a bronze platform five cubits long, five cubits wide, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court; and he stood on it, knelt down on his knees before all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven);

At the evening sacrifice I arose from my fasting; and having torn my garment and my robe, I fell on my knees and spread out my hands to the LORD my God.

Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.

And He was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw, and He knelt down and prayed,

Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not charge them with this sin." And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

But Peter put them all out, and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, "Tabitha, arise." And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.

And when he had said these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all.

When we had come to the end of those days, we departed and went on our way; and they all accompanied us, with wives and children, till [we were] out of the city. And we knelt down on the shore and prayed.

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

So they answered and said before the king, "That Daniel, who is one of the captives from Judah, does not show due regard for you, O king, or for the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day."

Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice.

Be merciful to me, O Lord, For I cry to You all day long.

When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

"For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is [only] the third hour of the day.

Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth [hour.]

The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.

A Psalm of David when he pretended madness before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed. I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise [shall] continually [be] in my mouth.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

And [whatever] you do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

pray without ceasing,

in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of [our] lips, giving thanks to His name.

And I said, "Should such a man as I flee? And who [is there] such as I who would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in!"

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. In the LORD I put my trust; How can you say to my soul, "Flee [as] a bird to your mountain"?

For look! The wicked bend [their] bow, They make ready their arrow on the string, That they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart.

"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

"But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

" Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.

" And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

"Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God.

" Also I say to you, whoever confesses Me before men, him the Son of Man also will confess before the angels of God.

And they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.

"Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word,

"Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life."

But Peter and the [other] apostles answered and said: "We ought to obey God rather than men.

And they agreed with him, and when they had called for the apostles and beaten [them,] they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus [as] the Christ.

"But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.

"Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw [some] of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

"I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan's throne [is.] And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas [was] My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.
