Then Nebuchadnezzar, in rage and fury, gave the command to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. So they brought these men before the king.

A proud [and] haughty [man -- "Scoffer" is] his name; He acts with arrogant pride.

But I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you, Who have said to you, 'Lie down, that we may walk over you.' And you have laid your body like the ground, And as the street, for those who walk over."

" And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

"But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!

When they heard [this,] they were furious and plotted to kill them.

When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with [their] teeth.

Then the king's countenance changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his hips were loosened and his knees knocked against each other.

but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.

So the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen?

And Jacob saw the countenance of Laban, and indeed it [was] not [favorable] toward him as before.

The enemy said, 'I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; My desire shall be satisfied on them. I will draw my sword, My hand shall destroy them.'

You blew with Your wind, The sea covered them; They sank like lead in the mighty waters.

Then Ben-Hadad sent to him and said, "The gods do so to me, and more also, if enough dust is left of Samaria for a handful for each of the people who follow me."

So the king of Israel answered and said, "Tell [him,] 'Let not the one who puts on [his armor] boast like the one who takes [it off.'] "

' But I know your dwelling place, Your going out and your coming in, And your rage against Me.

Because your rage against Me and your tumult Have come up to My ears, Therefore I will put My hook in your nose And My bridle in your lips, And I will turn you back By the way which you came.

Surely the wrath of man shall praise You; With the remainder of wrath You shall gird Yourself.

As messengers of death [is] the king's wrath, But a wise man will appease it.

A stone [is] heavy and sand [is] weighty, But a fool's wrath [is] heavier than both of them.

Wrath [is] cruel and anger a torrent, But who [is] able to stand before jealousy?

And the king gave the command, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast [them] into the den of lions -- them, their children, and their wives; and the lions overpowered them, and broke all their bones in pieces before they ever came to the bottom of the den.

' And after all this, if you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.

' Then, if you walk contrary to Me, and are not willing to obey Me, I will bring on you seven times more plagues, according to your sins.

then I also will walk contrary to you, and I will punish you yet seven times for your sins.

then I also will walk contrary to you in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.

And he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid [it] on the wood, and said, "Fill four waterpots with water, and pour [it] on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood."

So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water.

saying, "Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise.'

Pilate said to them, "You have a guard; go your way, make [it] as secure as you know how."
