Then a herald cried aloud: "To you it is commanded, O peoples, nations, and languages,

"and whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace."

And they went before the king, and spoke concerning the king's decree: "Have you not signed a decree that every man who petitions any god or man within thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?" The king answered and said, "The thing [is] true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which does not alter."

and he said, "When you do the duties of a midwife for the Hebrew women, and see [them] on the birthstools, if it [is] a son, then you shall kill him; but if it [is] a daughter, then she shall live."

So Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, "Every son who is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive."

Then the king's scribes were called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and [a decree] was written according to all that Haman commanded -- to the king's satraps, to the governors who [were] over each province, to the officials of all people, to every province according to its script, and to every people in their language. In the name of King Ahasuerus it was written, and sealed with the king's signet ring.

A copy of the document was to be issued as law in every province, being published for all people, that they should be ready for that day.

Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, Have fellowship with You?

Moreover I saw under the sun: [In] the place of judgment, Wickedness [was] there; And [in] the place of righteousness, Iniquity [was] there.

"Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, Who write misfortune, [Which] they have prescribed

Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a command, that if anyone knew where He was, he should report [it,] that they might seize Him.

He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,

and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took the timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.

And Miriam answered them: "Sing to the LORD, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!"

But he said: "[It is] not the noise of the shout of victory, Nor the noise of the cry of defeat, [But] the sound of singing I hear."

So it was, as soon as he came near the camp, that he saw the calf [and] the dancing. So Moses' anger became hot, and he cast the tablets out of his hands and broke them at the foot of the mountain.

Then David spoke to the leaders of the Levites to appoint their brethren [to be] the singers accompanied by instruments of music, stringed instruments, harps, and cymbals, by raising the voice with resounding joy.

Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of the horn, with trumpets and with cymbals, making music with stringed instruments and harps.

Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, [then] Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, and Obed-Edom: Jeiel with stringed instruments and harps, but Asaph made music with cymbals;

Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests regularly [blew] the trumpets before the ark of the covenant of God.

Moreover David and the captains of the army separated for the service [some] of the sons of Asaph, of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who [should] prophesy with harps, stringed instruments, and cymbals. And the number of the skilled men performing their service was:

Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the direction of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp to give thanks and to praise the LORD.

All these [were] the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to exalt his horn. For God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

And he stationed the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with stringed instruments, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, of Gad the king's seer, and of Nathan the prophet; for thus [was] the commandment of the LORD by his prophets.

To the Chief Musician. On an instrument of Gath. A Psalm of Asaph. Sing aloud to God our strength; Make a joyful shout to the God of Jacob.

Blow the trumpet at the time of the New Moon, At the full moon, on our solemn feast day.

A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath day. [It is] good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;

On an instrument of ten strings, On the lute, And on the harp, With harmonious sound.

Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.

For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.

Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp!

Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals!

Who sing idly to the sound of stringed instruments, [And] invent for yourselves musical instruments like David;
