Then he said: "Cursed [be] Canaan; A servant of servants He shall be to his brethren."

"The alien who [is] among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower.

But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official, and Geshem the Arab heard [of it,] they laughed at us and despised us, and said, "What [is] this thing that you are doing? Will you rebel against the king?"

But the former governors who [were] before me laid burdens on the people, and took from them bread and wine, besides forty shekels of silver. Yes, even their servants bore rule over the people, but I did not do so, because of the fear of God.

For a servant when he reigns, A fool when he is filled with food,

His sons are far from safety, They are crushed in the gate, And [there is] no deliverer.

Although You know that I am not wicked, And [there is] no one who can deliver from Your hand?

Lest they tear me like a lion, Rending [me] in pieces, while [there is] none to deliver.

"Now consider this, you who forget God, Lest I tear [you] in pieces, And [there be] none to deliver:

Indeed before the day [was,] I [am] He; And [there is] no one who can deliver out of My hand; I work, and who will reverse it?"

Now I will uncover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, And no one shall deliver her from My hand.

"For I will no longer pity the inhabitants of the land," says the LORD. "But indeed I will give everyone into his neighbor's hand and into the hand of his king. They shall attack the land, and I will not deliver [them] from their hand."
