Standing like an enemy, He has bent His bow; With His right hand, like an adversary, He has slain all [who were] pleasing to His eye; On the tent of the daughter of Zion, He has poured out His fury like fire.

Then the LORD said to me, "[Even] if Moses and Samuel stood before Me, My mind [would] not [be] favorable toward this people. Cast [them] out of My sight, and let them go forth.

All your lovers have forgotten you; They do not seek you; For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, With the chastisement of a cruel one, For the multitude of your iniquities, [Because] your sins have increased.

The Lord has swallowed up and has not pitied All the dwelling places of Jacob. He has thrown down in His wrath The strongholds of the daughter of Judah; He has brought [them] down to the ground; He has profaned the kingdom and its princes.

He burned the house of the LORD and the king's house; all the houses of Jerusalem, that is, all the houses of the great, he burned with fire.

But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, till [there was] no remedy.

Therefore He brought against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, on the aged or the weak; He gave [them] all into his hand.

He burned the house of the LORD and the king's house; all the houses of Jerusalem, that is, all the houses of the great, he burned with fire.

Then He spread it before me; and [there was] writing on the inside and on the outside, and written on it [were] lamentations and mourning and woe.
