Then the heavens and the earth and all that [is] in them Shall sing joyously over Babylon; For the plunderers shall come to her from the north," says the LORD.

And Chaldea shall become plunder; All who plunder her shall be satisfied," says the LORD.

A distressing vision is declared to me; The treacherous dealer deals treacherously, And the plunderer plunders. Go up, O Elam! Besiege, O Media! All its sighing I have made to cease.

Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you, Because of men's blood And the violence of the land [and] the city, And of all who dwell in it.

"And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire.

The mighty men of Babylon have ceased fighting, They have remained in their strongholds; Their might has failed, They became [like] women; They have burned her dwelling places, The bars of her [gate] are broken.

A sword [is] against the soothsayers, and they will be fools. A sword [is] against her mighty men, and they will be dismayed.

"Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, The foremost of their might.

But his bow remained in strength, And the arms of his hands were made strong By the hands of the Mighty [God] of Jacob (From there [is] the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel),

"The bows of the mighty men [are] broken, And those who stumbled are girded with strength.

Their sword shall enter their own heart, And their bows shall be broken.

He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.

There He broke the arrows of the bow, The shield and sword of battle. Selah

"Then I will knock the bow out of your left hand, and cause the arrows to fall out of your right hand.

" Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out and set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and bucklers, the bows and arrows, the javelins and spears; and they will make fires with them for seven years.

Flee from the midst of Babylon, And every one save his life! Do not be cut off in her iniquity, For this [is] the time of the LORD's vengeance; He shall recompense her.

" And I will repay Babylon And all the inhabitants of Chaldea For all the evil they have done In Zion in your sight," says the LORD.

The voice of those who flee and escape from the land of Babylon Declares in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, The vengeance of His temple.

" Call together the archers against Babylon. All you who bend the bow, encamp against it all around; Let none of them escape. Repay her according to her work; According to all she has done, do to her; For she has been proud against the LORD, Against the Holy One of Israel.

Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; Their foot shall slip in [due] time; For the day of their calamity [is] at hand, And the things to come hasten upon them.'

O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongs -- O God, to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth!

Rise up, O Judge of the earth; Render punishment to the proud.

O daughter of Babylon, who are to be destroyed, Happy the one who repays you as you have served us!

For [it is] the day of the LORD's vengeance, The year of recompense for the cause of Zion.

Say to those [who are] fearful-hearted, "Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come [with] vengeance, [With] the recompense of God; He will come and save you."

According to [their] deeds, accordingly He will repay, Fury to His adversaries, Recompense to His enemies; The coastlands He will fully repay.

since [it is] a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you,

"For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.

"Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her.

"Rejoice over her, O heaven, and [you] holy apostles and prophets, for God has avenged you on her!"

"For true and righteous [are] His judgments, because He has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication; and He has avenged on her the blood of His servants [shed] by her."
